So, do eagles really scare nuisance birds like geese and pigeons?
-
YES
-
Absolutely !
The management of a high-profile species like Canada Geese requires special effort. If a hand-crafted. life-like eagle can scare this magnificent nuisance bird, then other nuisance birds such as pigeons should easily be controlled by using eagle based scaring strategies.
The attached video shows a flock of canada geese being scared from a golf course pond where the geese thought they were safe from all predators.
Chase suspended from tree branch by a rubber band. Totally life-like movements and screeching. can be used on decks, porches, patios, wherever tree branches are available.
Chase suspended from ceiling of porch to above railing to scare away pigeons and doves that were seeking nesting areas in porch flower boxes.
The video on the left is a typical eagle derrick setup complete with ballast bag that is ideal for balconies where suspension hooks are not allowed. This setup is also good for decks, docks, patios, porches, etc. where no other means of suspending Chase is available
Above video shows Chase, suspended by a rubber band from a deck clothesline. His life-like movements are caused by the wind and by kinetic energy from the rubber band.
The test video shown above is for demonstration purposes. The addition of a motion activated sensor to scare pigeons should be considered as a first line of pigeon deterrent, especially when no one is available to activate the Bluetooth speaker with eagle screeching cries.
The above video shows a stand alone motion activated sensor installed near the shore of a 200 foot frontage cottage lot to scare geese away from entering and pooping on grass landscaping. To scare pigeons from entering balconies a motion activated sensor could be attached to the eagle derrick.
